November 2014 - Linda Perrazza

3DPT ANNOUNCES THE NOVEMBER PATIENT OF THE MONTH – LINDA PERRAZZA

3 Dimensional Physical Therapy would like to congratulate Linda Perrazza on being named patient of the month for November. Linda underwent a total knee replacement on and is on her way to recovery. She still has to put in more work to achieve all of her post-operative goals, but we are confident that Linda will do whatever it takes to get there. Congratulations Linda and keep up the good work!

3DPT: Tell us about your first few weeks after your surgery:

LINDA: I had a swelling complication that delayed me starting therapy. I also am one of those people whose body lays down scar tissue very quickly so I had a hard time bending my knee once I started therapy.

3DPT: How did the surgeon manage the scar tissue that formed?

LINDA: I had to go back to the doctor about 5 weeks after my surgery to have my knee forcibly bent while I was under anesthesia. I had to come directly to physical therapy from the manipulation and have Jeff bend my knee so it didn’t have a chance to tighten up. I immediately felt improved movement in my knee compared to before the manipulation. I gained 20 degrees in the first day after the manipulation.

3DPT: What are your therapy sessions like each time you come in?

I concentrate mostly on the bending – it is hard work and I make improvement with each session. The therapists monitor the mobility in my knee very closely to make sure that I am always moving forwards. I am currently up to bending 120 degrees. Although my therapy sessions are difficult and sometimes painful, I know that all of the therapists care about how I am doing and want me to have the best possible outcome.

3DPT: What is the one thing you want to be able to do most when you are done with your therapy?

LINDA:I want to be able to play with my grandkids - run around with them on the playground and participate in their sports.

3DPT: What is your best Thanksgiving dish that you will make?

LINDA: My family loves my stuffing and homemade cranberry sauce
