Gloria Spinella – May 2019

Gloria Spinella3DPT: Tell us about your injury that brought you to physical therapy and how it affected your life/lifestyle.

Gloria: I tripped over my dog’s bed and tore my right rotator cuff!  It was a full tear and I had lots of pain in my right shoulder.  I’m right-handed so I couldn’t do my normal everyday activities, even eating, without pain.  It also limited everything I did in my job as a professor.  I could not even raise my right arm when I came into 3DPT now look at me!

My niece came to 3DPT for physical therapy and had a good experience so I thought I would try it out and I’m so glad I did!

3DPT: Tell us a little about your recovery process.  What was/has been the hardest part of your therapy?

Gloria: The hardest part of therapy has been trying to find the energy to do my exercises at home.  I’m also battling cancer and currently getting chemotherapy, so that causes a lot of fatigue.

3DPT: What advice would you give to another people who suffered similar injuries?
Gloria: To get to Physical Therapy and be consistent with your therapy plan!  Don’t go once, then wait a few weeks.  Consistency will help the most!

3DPT: What do you like to do for fun?
Gloria: I like to be around my family, go to the gym and work with my trainer, reading, and watching old movies and tv shows.

3DPT: Why would you recommend 3 Dimensional Physical Therapy?
Gloria: I have found that all the therapists at 3DPT are very caring and responsive to whatever was going on with me, especially with my chemotherapy treatments.  The PTs talk to you and take time with you.  I don’t feel like just a number here, but a real person getting treated by a staff who was very caring and personal.  It was important to me to hear about my niece’s good experience to want to try 3DPT so I am happy to share my experience with other people so they can be comfortable trying physical therapy here too.
