Treatment Areas of Interest:
Right now, I am interested in seeing a variety of orthopedic conditions and sports related injuries. I like being able to work with individuals of all ages. I also enjoyed being able to work with some vestibular patients in my 1st clinical experience.
How I Got Into PT:
I’ve played soccer my whole life and growing up I had a bunch of injuries, especially ankle sprains. With each new injury I had, I had faith that my PT would get me on the field again as soon as possible. I have such good memories from attending physical therapy because my PTs always tried to make my sessions fun and incorporate all the skills I needed to get back on the field. When I was in high school I started to think about where I saw myself working in the future and I immediately thought of physical therapy. I loved the idea of being able to make an impact on some else’s life like how my PTs made an impact on mine.
What Are the Most Important Qualities in a PT?:
I think the most important qualities in a PT are compassion and communication. Most of the time, the patients we see are in pain and want to get back to the activities that they were previously able to do. I think it’s important to relate to those patients and put yourself in their shoes. If we are compassionate and truly care about the patient’s progress, then we can make the treatment plan that suits them best. Also, being able to communicate with the patient to explain to them what is happening and how what we do can make them feel better can help the patient feel more empowered to reach their goals.
I still love playing soccer. I played at Arcadia for 4 years and continue to play in intramurals and other leagues when I get the chance. I also enjoy running, working out, going to the beach, and spending time with my friends and family!
