Brian had a severe hockey injury to his hamstring and had the choice of surgical repair or Physical Therapy. He chose Physical Therapy and has been doing great! It’s been a long road and he still has some work to do before going back to hockey full force but he has had an amazing recovery.

Brian initially had very little pain which was great, but challenging in that he had swelling and bruising and still had to let time heal that acute injury before he could jump into the sport specific rehabilitation exercises. Brian has put in a lot of effort both at PT and doing his exercises at home and it’s paying off. Keep up the good work!

Here’s what Brian had to say about her injury and experience so far:

3DPT: Tell us about what brought you to physical therapy, and how this affected your life.

Brian: Approximately 3 months ago, I tore 2 out of the 3 tendons in my right hamstring while playing in a men’s ball hockey league. Instead of surgery, I opted for a non-operative approach with physical therapy. It has had a pretty big impact on my life, because I’m a very active person who loves to run and play sports. I also have two young kids, who keep me extremely busy and on my toes.

3DPT: Tell us a little about your recovery process. What has been the hardest part of your therapy?

Brian:  The recovery process has been long and hard, but at the same time rewarding as I make strides. The hardest part is making time every single day (at least an hour) to make sure I do all my at home exercises.

3DPT: What advice would you give to other people who suffered similar injuries or are going through a similar situation?

Brian: Trust the process and your therapists! Physical therapy takes time and you have to put the work in, but the results will come. Get yourself into a routine, do the exercises and you’ll be back to your normal life/activities before you know it!

3DPT: Why would you recommend 3 Dimensional Physical Therapy?

Brian: Jessica is one of the best PTs around! I previously saw her a couple years ago for a different hockey related injury (haha – I may want to look into a new hobby!) and she had me back on my feet playing in no time.

I’ve also seen other PTs at different 3DPT locations, and have always had a great experience. You can tell the PTs truly care about you and your recovery.
