KJ

KJ

KJ is a 15 year old basketball player who was originally sent to PT after a basketball injury that took place during his freshman season. Initially, it was thought that KJ just had a sprain and would be back on the court in time to play summer basketball. After a few weeks, it became clear that more extensive damage had been done than was thought initially. KJ returned to his physician who recommended he have surgery. In the meantime, he remained in PT performing “prehab” to improve his strength and range of motion in order to prepare.

After surgery, KJ hit the ground running (figuratively) and returned back to PT ready to work. Throughout his time in PT, he remained dedicated to improving and never gave up. He was able to push through not only the physical work of strengthening his body, but the mental realization that he wouldn’t be able to participate in his summer leagues or any of his normal summer activities. Though he was upset, KJ was able to see the bigger picture and remain focused in PT. He is currently back to running and jumping and is determined as ever to continue to improve and get back to basketball.  🏀💪

Tell us about what brought you to physical therapy and how this affected your life.

I began physical therapy back in early march after an injury to my left knee. It started out as just a sprain but it progressively got worse and later turned into a torn meniscus. I had surgery in late May and have been at physical therapy since.

What has been the hardest part of your therapy?  What was your favorite part of physical therapy?

The hardest part of physical therapy was over the summer not being able to be with my friends or getting around. But Jon my physical therapist, helped me stay focused on the long term goal- getting back onto the court.

My favorite part is coming into the building and being able to talk to anyone, everyone there is so nice to me and they even offer to give me rides home to help my busy mom.

What advice would you give to other people who suffered similar injuries or going through the same situation?

Some advice I would give to someone going through the same thing as me is to stay focused and some time alone does really help with the mind. This has taught me to become way more disciplined and I have become a way better person as a result.

Why would you recommend 3 Dimensional Physical Therapy to your friends?

I recommend 3D because they are all hard working people and professionals that will get you back to what you love in no time.

What is your favorite summer activity now that you are moving better?

My favorite summer activity was going to the beach and now thanks to 3D I can do that once again.

Physical Therapy can help you achieve your goals too, whether you’re recovering from an injury or just want to move pain-free!
