When Matt Hojnowski came to 3DPT in January, he knew he needed a change in his life. He was dealing with pain from a 20-year old injury, which had only gotten worse because of inactivity and weight gain.
Matt’s biggest hurdle was overcoming his fear of not knowing what to expect or if he’d even be able to do physical therapy. But once he started, there was no going back!
After starting PT, Matt met with 3DPT partner, Success by Lifestyle Nutrition, and with their help, completely changed his eating habits. Back to being active and eating better, Matt looks and feels like a different person – Just look at his before and after photo!

3DPT: Tell us about your injury that brought you to physical therapy and how it affected your life/lifestyle.
Matt: When I was 20 years old, I injured my back loading musical equipment into a van, and for the past 20 years I have been fighting my way through the pain. I had also added some pounds to my frame which did not make things any better for me. As an avid performing musician, sometimes I would get to a gig and feel spent by the time I was on stage to perform, just from lifting and carrying heavy equipment and I was even starting to experience pain while I was performing.
3DPT: Tell us a little about your recovery process. What was/has been the hardest part of your therapy?
Matt: I think the hardest part was not actually to get the train rolling on the tracks, but actually getting the train ON the tracks was the challenge. Mentally it was daunting accepting and preparing for the process and I was unsure of how I’d respond.
3DPT: How did nutrition counseling play a role in your journey to recovery and living your best life?
Matt: The nutrition counseling was a wake-up call. It also opened many doors for me. Over the years, I would get into ruts and fall into routines that would repeat over and over again. Not only being introduced to different plans and resources but the encouragement I received was a huge boost in the right direction.
3DPT: What did you learn from your sessions with the Registered Dietitian that you feel is important for others to know?
Matt: I feel the most important thing for me was that it was okay to change, and not to fear the challenge but instead look at it as a gift of knowledge.
3DPT: Would you recommend 3 Dimensional Physical Therapy? If yes, why?
Matt: Absolutely. When I first walked in the door I did not know what to expect- Am I going to be able to do this? Am I going to look stupid? Is this really going to work? All of my questions were answered without having to even ask them. The staff was excellent to work with and completely inviting.
3DPT: Would you recommend Success by Lifestyle Nutrition Counseling? If yes, why?
Matt: Most definitely. Sometimes in life you need to open new doors, explore different avenues, and try new things. Success by Lifestyle was a huge influence on me changing my lifestyle for the better and most importantly helping me understand that it’s okay to do it.
Success by Lifestyle will be hosting free nutrition screenings at the 3DPT Cherry Hill Grand Opening on September 20th!
