Why I became a Physical Therapist
As an undergrad, I enjoyed studying psychology and assisting in neuroscience lab research that examined the relationship between the mind and body. I am also a sociable person, and I value interacting with a variety of people every day and building relationships over time. I have also always valued maintaining a physically active lifestyle. After working in other industries for most of my twenties, I began to consider physical therapy as a new career to merge my interests. I worked for a year as a physical therapy aide, and decided to go back to school to become a PT. I resonated with the mix of complex clinical problem-solving, social connection, and promotion of mobility as a meaningful way to have an impact on others’ quality of life.
