Why I became a Physical Therapist
Growing up, I was a highly competitive and dedicated athlete. I suffered two injuries that led me to needing physical therapy during my high school years, and I was lucky enough to have had some really great PTs in my corner. Going to my physical therapy appointments helped me to stay positive, inspired me to work hard, and enabled me to return to the sports I loved. My time as a patient made me realize that I wanted to give those sort of experiences back to athletes like myself one day. I have always been passionate about helping others and leading a healthy lifestyle, so pursuing a career in Physical Therapy was a perfect fit for me.
What I feel are the most important qualities in a physical therapist
I believe that compassion, empathy, and adaptability are some of the most important qualities a PT should have. Every patient is different, so it is crucial that a PT is able to cater their treatment plan to each individual patients’ goals. Being able to connect and empathize with clients can go a long way in building a positive and successful rehabilitation experience for everyone.
