Here’s what Sean had to say about his journey and time at 3DPT Cherry Hill

Tell us what brought you to physical therapy and how this affected your life.

Sean:

After spending about a year in hospitals and rehabs, I had my right leg removed below the knee. My prosthetist, Medeast Ortho, moved from Mt Laurel to Cherry Hill right next door to 3DPT. It made sense to ask if 3DPT would work with me.  3DPT worked together with Medeast to formulate a plan of attack. As far as I know, I am 3DPT’s first patient that has an amputation.

Tell us a little about your recovery process. What has been the hardest part of your therapy?

Sean:  I received my leg in June and started PT right away. I was off my feet for various reasons for over a year and needed to relearn how to walk again. The hardest part has been to be patient with my progress.  Slow and steady progress is still progress.

What advice would you give to other people who suffered similar injuries or are going through the same situation?

Sean: My advice would be to keep a positive outlook.  It’s ok to get a little depressed, it’s understandable but don’t let it defeat you. My brother Bryan said it best to me, “You may be missing a leg but you still have your mind.”

Why would you recommend 3 Dimensional Physical Therapy?

Sean: 3DPT is a great place to recover. Keith Daniels has been a pleasure to work with. Everyone has been so nice and encouraging. Even other patients have remarked about my progress and that makes me feel great.

What are you most looking forward to that you may not have been able to do with your injury?

Sean: I’m an assistant wrestling coach at Gloucester City Middle School. My goal is to get back on the mat coaching. They are some of the toughest kids I know and I draw inspiration from the program. Lion is King is their motto and I draw from that.
