Coming home to 3DPT Jenkintown

Growing up, athletics were always a central part of my life—whether it was playing Cheltenham travel soccer, football or participating in my local basketball league. However, during my senior year of high school, I sustained a back fracture that sidelined me for months and ultimately led to six months of physical therapy. That experience was a turning point. I had always been curious about how and why people got injured and how the human body responded, but going through rehab myself solidified my desire to pursue a career in physical therapy.

Over the next seven years, I committed myself fully to this path. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh, where I deepened my understanding of the human mind. That background has proved invaluable in my clinical work, especially in addressing the psychological components of pain and rehabilitation. Before beginning my doctorate in Physical Therapy at Arcadia University, I spent a year abroad working with physical therapists and athletic trainers at both the international sports and clinical levels. This exposure to diverse patient populations with varying levels of physical ability profoundly shaped the way I approach patient care today.

While at Arcadia, I had the opportunity to complete a clinical rotation in the cardiothoracic ICU. Although my current focus is outpatient orthopedics, that experience gave me the knowledge and confidence to identify more serious medical conditions in the clinic and make appropriate referrals. It also helped me better understand the medical journeys many of my patients have gone through before arriving at physical therapy.

In January 2023, I began working at 3DPT in Haddon Township—what I affectionately call the “Jenkintown of New Jersey.” It’s a tight-knit, welcoming community where nearly every patient knew someone else in the clinic. Under the mentorship of an incredible clinic director and colleagues, I began growing into the physical therapist I had always hoped to become.

In August 2023, I enrolled in a sports residency through Arcadia University while continuing to work full time. Over the course of the year, I received advanced training from Arcadia’s residency team and athletic training staff. The residency sharpened my clinical skills and taught me to pay attention to the smallest details that can make the biggest difference in an athlete’s and or patient’s recovery. Topics ranged from imaging after acute trauma to developing treatment plans that keep athletes safely in play. After completing the residency, I dedicated an additional four months to studying for my board certification, and I’m proud to now be one of only about 3,500 Board-Certified Sports Physical Therapists in the country!

While sports Physical therapy is a huge part of what I enjoy, I also enjoy working with older adults preparing them for life ahead and ensuring that it is one with the  physical capacity to enjoy the activities they love. My education has equipped me with the tools and knowledge to discuss longevity and health living throughout the lifespan while helping implement programs to do so.

The past decade—from deciding to pursue physical therapy in high school to now opening a new 3DPT branch in the very area where I grew up—has been anything but easy. But I’m grateful to be part of a company that has supported my professional growth and shares my values. One of our core principles at 3DPT is community, and that resonates deeply with me. I’m honored to bring the skills, knowledge, and passion I’ve cultivated back home and to contribute meaningfully to the health and wellness of back home to Jenkintown and the surrounding neighborhoods.
